Hi all,

I noticed that some Stingray's have an extra pickup located between the mainpickup and the bridge. What is this called? What does it do? How much does it cost?

On another note, what are you guys prefered EQ settings for various playing styles?

Could that be the pickup for a Boss V-Bass unit?

DKR,

We don't offer a two pickup Sting Ray model, so as mentioned it could be the V-Bass or any other external pickup ~

With my SR5 I basically alter between two settings:
Fingerstyle, Jaco inspired tone: Single coil mode, slightly boosted bass and mids, treble flat. Sometimes I keep the bass flat as well, for solos in particular.

Slap and some fingerstyle playing: Parallel mode, slightly boosted bass and treble, mids usually flat.

Overall, I don't tend to use extreme setting on the onboard preamp. On the contrary I think the Musicman basses sound very well flat, straight into the board of my home studio. I just use the EQ to enhance certain aspects of the sound. The SR5 is also a truly versatile instrument and much of the tone alteration I need I do with my fingers, for example by plucking at different places etc.

Good luck
