I have 3 extra springs that came with my Luke 1 Sledge. I am wondering if they are the same spring strength and are there for replacement purposes or if they are of another spring strength allowing for experimentation of the floyd's tension?

Thanks.

Cheers,

Tom

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they are the same as what is installed. No difference. Just giving you the option of adding more springs or I guess if one broke, though never seen once snap.

bbake1,

Thanks. I was inclined to think they were of the same spring strength but i wasn't sure. I have never seen a spring snap either, but maybe they wear out over the years.

Cheers,

Tom

My guess is that they added them because you might want to add springs for stiffer trem action.

Or to compensate if you start using thicker strings (which means more tension).

Many people have their own preference for number of springs. I've seen all 5 in, 4, 3, 2. I use 3 and angle all 3 of them, then crank them down to deck the trem.
