I had my Axis set up a couple of months ago, and I immediately noticed there was some extra tension on the G. I had it set up with Paradigms, so I wrote it off initially as just a different feel for the different strings. Over the weekend, I swapped strings back to my regular Super Slinkys, and I still have the same issue. Everything else feels good, but when I hit the G, it seems extra tight. I can take it back to the tech, but given how long I've let it ride, I'm pretty sure that's going to be more $$. Just thought I'd ask for suggestions here first.

The string length hasn't changed, so could this just be you noticing a difference in action, making the G seem tougher to play?

Beej is right. Difference in action or setup can make us perceive weird things sometimes. e.g. Did the bridge move in the past under string bending? Does it do so now? If the answers are "yes" and "no", then string bending will feel stiffer.

If the string is the same gauge, material/construction, and tuned to the same pitch and same scale lenght, it *must* be at the same tension. That's basic physics of guitar strings. Whether the Paradigm G string is higher tension than a normal Slinky G of the same gauge I don't know off hand, but all the normal Slinky G strings will be the same tension every time if they are the same gauge and tuned to the same pitch.

He did make some slight adjustments to the high strings because they were sounding a little warbly on the upper frets, so that may be the difference that I'm feeling. Just seemed weird that the G is the only string that I notice it on. I've been on a quest for that from the factory setup, and I just can't seem to find it. :)

You could buy a lighter gauge g string and see if it makes a difference. That's kind of weird. General tweaks for setup/intonation shouldn't cause any noticeable change in string tension.
