Hey Now,

I went to this show last night with Darrell (DWF1004). Nuno was fantastic, as expected, he is easily one of my favorites guitarists of all time. The band sounded really tight and played all the classics you would expect as we well as three or four new tracks from the new cd. It still amazes me that when they break into "More Than Words", Cherone and Nuno literally stop singing and playing and let the crowd take over. It must be a great feeling for a band to hear the crowd know an entire song verbatim, and sing it to them.

Nuno just rips it up, I had the pleasure of seeing their show last year at NAMM and couldn't pass up the opportunity of seeing them again. He has some new signature amps although I am having trouble finding out who makes them (rumor was Randall but....) They have this cool look to them and sound, well, like Nuno

King's X has always been one of my favorite bands as well. Gretchen Goes To Nebraska is an outstanding album and still gets regular play time here at Pug HQ. "Over My Head" was the high point of the night for me but they also treated us to "Black Flag" and plenty of other great tracks, both new and old. Ty was using Egnater cabs so I imagine he has several of the modules to choose from and his tone was thick and delicious. Truly an under rated cat with monster chops tone.

It was a great combination of two bands who utilize strong harmonies and just rocked the house. The only downfall was standing for the entire show, but that could be because I'm getting old. :(;)

Lates All, I need to go work on some more licks from Decadence Dance:D

The amps are custom Randalls (both Randall and Washburn are under the same umbrella company). You'll notice that the Planet One symbol is on the Cabinets (as well as Nuno's left arm). There is a rumor that Randall may start marketing them. I saw Nuno and Company about 2 weeks ago with roburado, and Extreme just wrecked the place they were so good. They were awesome.

I'd love to see Extreme and King's X live, 2 of my favorite bands, the new Extreme album is awesome, and Nuno, well, all l can say is he's a freak on the guitar, and Gary and Nuno harmonize well together.

Thanks, I heard about the Nuno/Washburn connection but can't find any real info on the amps. I have to say I love the look of them

Another thing I forgot to mention is that Doug Pinnick's voice is still incredible. There's nothing like seeing a three piece that just kicks that much hinie;)

Two of my favorite bands ever. Gonna have to check out the new Extreme. Did they play anything off of Waiting for the Punchline?

Paul Geary is actually part of the management company for the band. The new CD is sweet.

Man, Ty Tabor is one of my favorite guitarists! He was my guiding light when I first found out about them about 6 years ago. He really inspired me to develop my lead playing through his exquisite taste and feel on the guitar.

If you've never seen them live then you MUST! It is a very personal experience to see them live. They are all stellar guys, and very humble. I hope they keep rocking into their 60s!

What a great double bill!! I saw King's X open for Living Colour in '91..."It's Love" is still one of my favorite songs by any band. I agree...Ty Tabor is very underrated.

I'm going to pick up the new Extreme disc for sure...Nuno is right...it's time to rock!

What did they play from III Sides to Every Story?

Cool. I didn't know that. As far as I know he is still involved with managing Godsmack, as well. I thought that might have been the reason he didn't rejoin, because of his commitments to them. Good to see he's still involved in some capacity.

Glad you like the new cd. Can't wait to check it out.

According to the Egnater forum on Rigtalk, he is using a few tweaked modules, as well as a Custom 'Gretchen" module
I know one of the guys on their crew, and may be able to get an answer from him if needed

Awesome. Kings X are a great, very under-rated band and deserve so much more than they've been given; glad they're still out there.

I always loved Extreme, more for Nuno's ability and the vocals/harmonies than anything else, and the fact that they can pull it all off live. The new album really didn't do much for me; I thought they'd have much more to say after over 10 years of being apart. I like Star and love Comfortably Dumb, but most of the other stuff hasn't really taken hold with me. Them again, Waiting For The Punchline took a while for me, and it ended up being my favorite later on.

I hope this double bill makes it out to Northern CA. and soon.

Glad to hear Nuno and tyhe boys are back out on the road !!
Is thier new album out ?
If so Whats the title ?

Yep, it's out now. It's called Saudades de Rock

Saudade is a Portuguese word for "a feeling of nostalgic longing for something or someone that one was fond of and which is lost. It often carries a fatalist tone and a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might really never return."

Oh yeah, for a 3 peice they know how to fill out there sound, makes them sound like there's 6 people on stage playing.

Dug is an awesome singer, incredible range, fantastic tone, and he seems like an all round nice guy.
