Hey guys! First off Happy New Year To All!

Ive noticed in the past few weeks that the finish of my White Silos (built about 1 year ago) is fading on the bottom bevel where it rests on my leg when I sit and play. Its doesnt bother me or anything. I like the "worm in" look. Any idea how or why its fading so soon?

There might be nothing wrong with your guitar, I've read somewhere that the dye in your jeans can chemically react with the acrylic finish and the paint of your instrument causing it to wear off.

just saw a youtube clip the other day with john 5 . showing his tele. and the bottom of it is almost completely discoloured because he says he sits watching tv playing guitar and he usually wears black jeans. and on his the white binding on his guitar is almost black where the guitar rests on his knee.

I had a problem like this 7 years ago with a Surf Green Jeff Beck Strat which after two years discolored on the whole lower half where my picking arm would rest. I had asked Mike Eldred about it and he had no clue. I know a few guys that play different brand guitars that this has happened to also so there is no really pinpoint explanation. It could very well be a chemical that is in some of the laundry detergents used to clean clothes.
