I was watching a very old Mike Portnoy archive video and he was talking about how DT wanted a symbol to go along with the name of the band back when they were still called 'Majesty'.

They were looking for something that would also match the name stylistically. It was John Myung that found the Majesty symbol that sits on the first fret of almost every Majesty guitar in a book and it is actually the Royal Seal of Mary, Queen of Scots.

Interesting. I thought it was something Charlie Dominici drew up.
Also, all letters of his last name are present in the symbol.
