Right Chaps,
The news is good, my new AL is in.
Yes yes I know, I'll get some pics directly.
Musicman tremolo's, they're ridiculously good aren't they ?
But in the meantime a fashion poser you.
As supplied the guitar comes in Vintage Sunburst with Black Plate, Black Pickups, Black St**t knobs.
Now there's absolutely nothing wrong with the sound coming out of those SD's but to be frank all that black in the middle of the guitar is a little too 70's F**der for my liking.
So I've decided to leave the stock plate as it is with the Seymours, put some quick release connectors on the guitar and make up a second plate so that I can switch between the Seymours and my old Rio Grande's.
I'm going to wire the Rio's in with just a volume pot and a 5 way switch. I never use the tone pot so I'm going to stick a Demeter MB preamp in that hole for a bit of switchable midrange punch.
But what colour combo ?
I'm thinking either:
i) Tortoiseshell Plate, Black P/ups (go white and it all gets a bit SRV !) Black T*** type metal knobs black switch tip.
ii) Dirty white Plate, White P/ups, Nickel T*** knobs.
iii) Your suggestion here ?
I look to the Knucklehead cognoscenti for their thoughts and input.
And to the ALOC in particular, I left for a while, but in selling Pinky to Komp I did ultimately swell the membeship of the ALOC by one ! And now I'm back with a trem. Oh lord, the bad Jeff Beck impersonations, will they ever end ?
