you know, if it was good wouldn't there be customer reviews?? i never tried those nor will try since im satisfied with my guitar the way it is, and what do you mean about dead spots?

a dead spot is a note on a string which sound for less long than average. you also have the opposite, usually resonant peaks the guitar likes more than the rest. for instance, my y2d has a jump in volume around the 5th fret of the B string, which happens to be where most amps start woking propperly.
as for the fat finger, i own one and usually use it with the cheap acoustic. it works. it "fills" out the sound a bit. but it does no miracles. if you have serious dead spots, your guitar needs a checkup.

I used to have one and it never made any noticeable difference in tone or sustain on any of my guitars, electric or acoustic.

Ok, thanks guys, it is also at my fifth fret. I would never have noticed it except I was double tracking a score. Probably never notice it again.
Thanks for the sustainer answer, guy at the shop suggested it and pointed out a few guys who use it live. Unfortunately, I do not trust this store yet, so I figured someone here had to know.

I have tried them. My guitar tech laughed when he saw my guitar! I thought it was a waste of money. When i got my first ball (Luke) I realised a god lump of wood sounds good period and I forgot about the fat finger (i don't think it would fit on the headstock anyway!).
I noticed a bigger improvement in tone with using titanium saddles, it's really sweetened up my Luke and Silo Spec. It hasn't changed the tone of the guitars much, but there is more sustain (not that it matters much) and my strings last hell of a lot longer- well worth the 50 odd pounds- i've saved that in not changing dull sounding strings. Anyway, I'm wandering from the original thread...
