So I thought he was just being super cool for whatever reason and just inviting me. But come to find out he needed a ride to the show because he only had his motorcycle in that area and its FREEZING cold. Pretty damn sweet deal if you ask me! I unfortunately, live about 2 hours from his residence(which is near San Diego). The reason he hit me up is he saw I was in San Diego the previous night attending the Dream Theater concert. After speaking with him it was a no go.

I was literally trembling when I read his offer. I couldn't reply back at all.

Charlie is a great guy. Its a shame that I live on the east coast. I would have driven a few hours to pick him up to take him to the show. On his facebook page, he's with the wizard, so I'm guessing that he got there safe and sound on the bus.

May I say. I'm still crushed. To think you're going to be a VIP guest to your favorite band in the world and have a chance to spend if only a few intamite moments with your life hero. :( I deserve a free stallion when they release I think... :)

Also, he never clarified there was a catch to obtaining said ticket until the phone Convo. Still cool to say I've had a phone conversation with the original singer of dream theater. Lesson: if it's too good to be true. It probably is.

Did he not have VIP tix? You never clarified that. If he did, and you really wanted to meet your hero, was it that bad of a deal? He gets a ride, and you get to meet hero, right?

I don't get it... what was his offer? The mere pleasure of giving him a ride to Anaheim, or was he giving you a VIP pass for your time? The latter would be really cool, the first not so much.

It would have been great. Just thinking back, what was better, the show or driving a few hours each way singing Christmas carols? Maybe even throw in a few old school DT songs for the hell of it! Stop at the diner for a pork roll egg and cheese, laugh out loud on some gut busting funny story or three. It would be a memory of a lifetime. Oh, and yeah, a DT show VIP pass included. All the while, Charlie is a real down to earth dude, great guy! Oh well..

Devin could you make this issue a little clearer? I am sure some are still not sure what the problem was, myself included. Are stating that Charlie offered you a ticket with a V.I.P. pass in exchange for a ride to the show, since he did not want to ride his bike. If that is the case I don't see what the issue was, as the call was yours. But maybe I am not seeing the point you are trying to make.

From what I can tell, he was pissed that Charlie saw Devin was in San Diego, assumed he lived there (or was just still in town) and asked for a ride to Anaheim, offering a VIP ticket in return.

Not sure what the "catch" was, other than maybe Charlie was expected to know he really lives 2 hours away from San Diego?

No wonder celebrities are so guarded about things and people in real life.
