Hi all. I have a dual pickup Sterling and noticed recently that there is some kind of weird film on a few of the pickup poles. I tried to wipe it off, scratch it with my fingernail, yell bad words at it, etc. but it doesn't go away. I looked in the FAQ and saw a thread (i-have-rust-on-the-pole-pieces-of-my-stingray-what-to-do | music-man-basses | faq) but this doesn't look like rust. It looks like a thin film, but I can't seem to touch it.
As additional information, the bass is about 1.5 years old and has been used mostly in the studio with 3-4 gigs along the way. I always wipe down the bass after using it.
Does anybody know what this might be and how to get rid of it?
PS: FWIW, it's my favorite bass ever.
