Alright, I just can't contain my excitement! :D Me and some guys got together and played some rich kids birthday party. Nothing complicated, just some Christian rock stuff and I brought my Bongo 6. Ever since I bought it, I've been wondering how the Bongo was going to perform live. My major concern was its tone and its weight.

So I've never played with these guys before, and I show up to practice with that big Music Man case and the guitarist goes "nice man, cant wait to see your Stringray." I pulled it out of the case and the reactions were amazing, even the drummer was impressed! After the lead guitarist wet himself over the fretboard, I plugged in and for the first time heard my Bongo at full stage volume. We practiced a few songs, and I really got to feel out my tonal pallet. The bridge humbucker is always the meat on the burger, but the neck humbucker doesn't sound bad by itself. Both of them are amazing in their own ways, they really sound like 2 different basses in a band mix. That day I found my favorite setting - about 80% bridge, 20% neck. Perfect. Now, about the weight. This is the heaviest bass I've owned, and I think its also the heaviest I've played. With a 4" strap, it feels like an average 4 string. What impressed me most about the Bongo, the sound guy didn't even have to EQ me, all he asked is that i turn my low end up. All i had to do was add a tiny bit of bass on the Bongo's EQ, and perfection. I left practice with at least one tone compliment from every band member, including the sound man and a bystander. The next day we played, and it performed flawlessly!

Thank you, Mr Ball for engineering the best bass guitar ever designed. I was a hardcore 4 string Rickenbacker fan for years, now mine just sits in the case because I've found the perfect bass guitar for me. There is a superior quality to these instruments, they just sound phenomenal and feel amazing. For me, the Bongo is the perfect match of the best tone, playability, look, and feel.

Good job, you can't go wrong with a bongo HH. Lately, I have been using 80% neck and 20% bridge when I play live. Very nice!!!
