And I have come to the conclusion that the Luke is the one for me.
Feels a lot like my old Axis but with better frets for me. (I always found the Axis frets a tad tiny for me.) But the Axis had a tone and feel to die for.
Loved the guitar's size. Had a nice tight feel but I didn't feel I had to "fight" the guitar to play it, like I sometimes gave to do with my Strat.
Loved the neck. Something about an oil finished neck that feels to right to me. I thought that I had found a home with my Soloist neck but I've had my mind changed.
The tremolo felt really good. About 5 steps up from my Strat and nearly as solid tuning wise as the OFR in my Jackson Soloist, which I feel will be replaced with the Luke.
Now my opinions on the other Balls.
Also got to try a JP and a Slio.
The JP felt good too but the slightly larger size and neck feel weren't for me.
The Silo was pretty cool too. Had a very nice neck profile and Strat-ish vibe but with a better feel. The neck almost felt like a cross between a Strat and a Tele. Kind of a best of both worlds thing.
In summary:
I see why each of you go nuts over all these models. The JP, Silo, and Luke are all extremely well built and fantastic feeling guitars. I can also see how the different guitars attract all the fans each model has.
But for me the Luke wins out for my tastes and needs.
Congrats EBMM for putting these fantastic instruments out for us to enjoy!
Now all I gotta do is get me one...
