I recently purchased a good used guitar and it's time to change out the strings. I wasn't told what gauge the strings were when I bought it, is there any way that I can measure to find out what size they are? I'd really like to get the same gauge of string that way I don't have to mess around with setting the truss and the tremolo.

Thanks.

You'd probably be better off setting it up anyway.

If you really want to measure the string gauge, you need a set of calipers. You should be able to get them from any hardware store. Here's a set I want:

You (or I) won't really need anything that expensive.

Some guitar shops keep calipers behind the counter to measure string gauges.
