A very quick question and confirmation, can I use the 'Dunlop 6524 Fingerboard Cleaner (01)' for cleaning the fingerboard on my JP15 (roasted maple)? I know that we can use the wonder wipes, but since I already have this with me, just wanted to confirm if it is safe to use. What triggered this post is that on the bottle it says not to be used on Maple fretboards, but the JP15 has an unfinished maple board right?.

I usually spray some on a cotton cloth, and then rub it on the fretboard, and wipe off excess (if any) immediately on my other JP6. Am I doing this right?

Cheers everyone and thanks!

I emailed CS twice last year about cleaning the neck and fretboard of the JP15 and they said on both occasions that lemon oil is safe to use:

"If the Wonder Wipes are not available try using a high grade of lemon oil. It will work both on maple, rosewood and ebony. If the neck is very dirty, you can use a small amount of Murphy's Oil Soap, diluted 3:1 with water, to clean it."

"You can use any high grade lemon oil on the back of the neck and the fretboard though."

Thanks a lot!

Interesting. I've never heard recommendations about lemon oil on the JP15 maple neck, and TBH, I am not very sure about it. I know there are multiple threads here for the same. But for the sake of scope, can some please answer whether I can use the above mentioned Dunlop product to clean the fretboard?

Any help would be awesome! Thanks.

Bizarre I had the same issue last night. Thought I'd give my neck a clean and so got out the same JD Lemon Oil. Had a good rub away and then looked at the bottle and read the same "This product is not recommended for use on maple fretboards"

Hastily rubbed it off but really not sure why it says that.

Just an FYI, you can grab Wonder Wipes off Amazon for in packs of 20 for $7.

Thanks for the reply @bhull. Wonder wipes are available here and of course I can buy them. The question is more towards my understanding as to why I cannot/should not (if not) use the JD Fingerboard Conditioner, which I already have and have been using on my ebony JP6.

Thanks everyone.

Bumping this thread back up! It's about that time again when I change my strings and clean up my fretboard since it's been a while.

Still looking for an answer whether I can really use 'Dunlop 6524 Fingerboard Cleaner (01)' on my JP15 fretboard for cleaning, or do I need to go ahead and place an order for the Wonder Wipes?

Any ideas guys? Would really appreciate it! Thanks.
