Most likely a contents rider on your homeowner's should do it. Be sure to have all receips and documentation and don't forget to add all the gear that you play it through/with.

Mine is a seperate policy, though still with same company.
I asked them a while back and they DO NOT routinely cover musical instruments except for fire/flood (my Company is EXCELLENT btw so should know, USAA. Yeah I know, military officers or ex. only, but VERY good!!!!!).
Anyway, got a seperate rider of over $5,000 for 3 guitars. NOT covered if ANY money is made with them (different coverage) but covered for ANYTHING else WORLDWIDE! Coverage, $45 a year!!!!
I think I heard a company called Heritage Insurance http://heritage-ins-services.com/national.htm
and http://www.cameron-insurance.com/ with an "Inland Marine" policy.
Heritage is used heavily by the Les Paul guys!
Really is NOT much money to cover everything, broken headstocks (god forbid) and all!
I ADVISE insurance, makes me feel safer anyway.

Hope this helps.
P.S. my company advises to take pictures and keep documents (serial #'s etc.) They even covered my Axis for 1 min after midnight tonight (and my seller has not even shipped it yet (although I do have pics and serial number ).
