We all know, that Steve´s #1 has a very tattered look. But for the first time, whilst watching "Deep Purple - Live Encounters" from 1996, I noticed, that the finish was gone at that time where the right forearm is. This must have been patched, because later, this can´t be seen. I´ve seen that for the first time. I can´t imagine how many hours you have to play to get such a worn out finish. Wow!

yea, been about now 28 years of his number one, but no wonder it has been worn because steve plays all the time, pretty much none stop i guess, a little hard for me to believe that he could get through that cause im is not worn a bit in that area even thoe i play 85% of the day but i hope mine turnes out like that :)

I have to get that DVD when i have time!!!

In the BP interview Steve also says his wife touches up the paint on his guitar with nail polish, and that he doesn't even practice on that guitar. That wear is just from stage time.
