Took the Lime Green Bongo out for its first show last night (what a cheap date... didn't even have to buy it dinner). What can I say, other than it was an experience. It is the first time in about 10 years that I have played a bass with exposed pole pups (not since I broke my old SR). That took a bit of adapting to. I also noticed that the tone was extremely responive to where I was playing (between the bridge and 24th fret). Normally there are only a few tone "hot spots" but on the Bongo if you moved your fingers a centimeter in any direction the tone shifted a bit - has to be a by product of the 18 volt system picking up subtle changes.

Tonaly, it took some more adjusting too. I have not used it before with my Gig Rig... just my practice rig at low levels. The sonics took some adapting. Normally I play through an SWR Silverado Special with a Bass Pod XT in the effects loop... why not it sounds great with my Warwick Streamer ProM. But the Bass Pod didn't like my Bongo. The tone coming through was too harsh. So I pulled the Pod out of the loop, and played the Bongo with just the SWR. You know an amazing thing happened... the dry Bongo sounded better than the dry or looped Warwick. It was nice and tight. And the 3 band EQ worked wonders (much more responsive that Warwicks MEC tone controls - I can't wait for my 5 string with the 4 bander in it).

As for the Bass Pod... I have some thoughts on it and I will let you all know what I come up with when I get some time to do some tinkering.

Last, the Lime Green color was a hit (well, you either love it or hate it). All I can say is the photos don't do it justice and it turns some really cool colors under different lights.

The latest bass player has a review of the new korg in it and they seemed to really rip it to shreds. For a magazine that seems to find and report mostly the best in anything, I'd hate to see how bad a piece of gear has to be for them to slam it.

It has also been my experience that a Bongo plugged straight into a rig sounds better than almost anything else run through the effects of your choosing.

I don't have a Lime Green one, though.

Awesome. Have you guys noticed how the finished on Bongos tend to change ever so slightly in color in certain angles and lighting? That's a really groovy thang, eh? I bet that Lime Green really shines.

I think that the Bongos and their 18 volts are wired so hot they sizzle. It might be overdriving your effects processor. I had to lower my pickups a LOT because there was excessive finger noise. Now I've got it adjusted where it is truly the finest bass I've played in over 25 years.:p And yes the 4 band IS awesome!

Actually the silica pack was on ebay, and the Bongo just showed up with it (actually it is the one and the same)

Nippon did 3 special Bongos for MM in this tri-color green. MM and the CasseyLeeBall Foundation (an awesome cause by the way) auctioned this one off.

It came straight to me from MM and the people at EB/MM couldn't have been nicer.

I know I could have gotten a Bongo HH or HS or maybe even a HP for what I paid for it, but it was for a great cause and I have a Bongo that is one of a kind (or 1 of 3:p )... I am thinking of getting a black ice pg for it... opinions???

Talking of fisrt gigs with basses, the first time I used my warwick thumb, its active electronics boosteed my signal so much it totally overdrove the PA speakers, so I had to go passive, lol.The sound it made though, talk about phat ooomph, man it was awesome.People sat near the speakers said it just cut through the mix and half deafened oen girl.:D Sorry, I jsut thought I'd tell you that.

Unlikely. That's why PA mixers have gain controls (and often attenuation pads) on each channel.
