first Gig

hey guys i had my first gig tonight at church, we only did one song because that was all the time we had..but i just wanted to share the amazing experience i had tonight...if anyone here is a beliver they will know what i mean when i say this but, when my band and i where practicing the song i couldnt get the verse and bridge to go along with my singer, so i started praying for a while for help and tonight when i got up to play i never messed up once and i fealt like God was actually playing right threw me, i really dont remember much about tonight, all i do remember is just sitting back and and enjoying the great music ...has anyone else here fealt that before?

I have to agree. As a fellow Christian, you have to turn it over to God and let Him guide you. Remember, we can't take a breath without Him. In the last band I was in, there were times that I didn't even realize I was playing. It was as if I were listening to someone else play. There is no feeling like it as a musician. Congratulations on your first gig and I pray you will have many more. I am the song leader at my church and would love to get in a Contemporary/Rock Christian band. By the way, what song did you do?

What guitars are you guys using to worship?

I have a Black Axis SS, a Telecaster, and Charvel Model 6 (never played it at church), and my Washburn acoustic. I have probably played the acoustic more at church. I was in a Contemporaty Christian band a little while back. In it, I used my Axis and a Marshall. But sadly, that band didn't last too long. I haven't hardly picked up any of my others since I got the Axis. I am a total EBMM convert! These guitars have absolutely got to be the best guitars built. I mentioned in another post, "These things just FEEL right!

Yeah, I have A.S.S. coming very soon. I am mainly using Larrivee acoustic at chruch right now. I can not wait until I get my Axis and use it's piezo pups.

I know that feeling. I'm a bassist and also (and more importantly) a Christian as well. It's so much fun to feel like you're just holding the guitar and God himself is playing it. Wow what a feeling.

I am actually the Worship Pastor at Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Muscatine, Iowa. I used to play in a Christian rock band named Twice Born a few years ago when I was 18. It actually sucked being 18 because I wanted to play my originals in bars and taverns. I figured what better place to send a positive spiritual message, and by that I don't mean saying "Jesus" 100 times each song. I can totally relate to what you guys are saying. Playing in a worship setting is about getting out of the way and let God do His thing. I used to play my A.S.S. w/piezo before I switched to playing acoustic exclusively. I'm glad to see fellow Christians here in the EBMM forum.

Glad everything worked out well for you! I know exactly what you mean, that feeling happens to me every Sunday night that I go out "gigging" - I do volunteer work at the Hartford County jail, helping out with the music at a bi-lingual Catholic service for the inmates. There's nothing like that feeling, entirely different from a "stage high"
