Hello all!

I see quite a few familar names, so I already feel at home. My only current EBMM is a Sterling black onyx, but for quite some time now I've been watching the Bongo threads with interest and thinking about a fiver. A brief visit to the local shop convinced me to bite the bullet so a Bongo has been ordered with the options I was after, as follows:

Bongo 5 fretted
H/H with piezo
graphite pearl w/ black ice 'guard

There are several nice Bongos in the local shops and I could have brought one home, but the piezo was an absolute requirement for me. I suspect that the piezo will be the icing on an already-versatile HH mix. The colour choice could have been more imaginative I suppose, but as I have the coffee-table bass thing covered and have also exceeded my prerequisite number of black/stealth basses. In person these colours were a sweet combination. Now let the waiting begin... I'll just have to remember to be patient.

Cheers,

Andrew

My bass is the same as yours, with different color scheme: Lava pearl with white ice pickguard. It took five months to deliver, but it worths the wait. And yes, piezos are really cool! They don't impress me for regular fingerstyle groove playing, but for melodic two handed tapping solo stuff are great. Also work for slap riffs to me. As I said in TalkBass forums: Putting aside multi-stringed instruments and exotic woods/finishes/options, why have other than a Bongo? I know, I know that it's a very biased statement, but just to summarize how great I feel the Bongo is. Congratulations!

Thanks to one and all. I know that this bass will be worth every day of the wait. What surprises me is that I waited so long to pull the trigger!

Alvabass, thanks for the information you've provided on the piezo. It's exactly what I was hoping for. I also managed to scout out a JPEG of the preamp / controls here and EB has missed nothing there... talk about well-thought out and versatile!

Cheers,

Andrew

After getting my Bongo I recorded some audio clips trying to show the versatility of the instrument and I posted them in these forums, but the link has expired. Here's a fresh one if you're interested on listening (part of) the tonal palette the Bongo offers.

Please read the enclosed text (.pdf) file first. There's a very noticeable fret buzz because I hadn't setup my bass yet when I did these recordings. Hope they will be useful for you.

Graphite pearl makes me squirm like a little girl. I really love that color.
Are you sure you want him to confess? :D
He's making it too easy to guess the colour of his monogrammed thong!

Very much so. I suppose it's been said before, but thank you for all of your time and effort in putting that together. This is starting to get me really pumped!!!

So many beautiful new (and old) MM basses shown in this forum, and congrats to each and every one! On that high note I got my own bit of good news too... apparently my Graphite Pearl Bongo HHP5 will be finished sometime this week!

Of course it will take some time to package, ship and make it's way up here but you can be certain there's no lack of impatience on my part. ;) j/k All good things take time.

From one soon to be Bongo owner to another soon to be Bongo owner, welcome to the forum.

It's a fun place, cool people and a true love for EBMM basses here.

Have fun and be sure to post pictures when the baby arrives.
