Hi all! After a long six month wait I finally got my Blue SM Sig model w/FR.
VERY nice!!!! Plays great, nice feel.
Looking for some feedback here;
1) If I change strings to equiv gauge from a standard set of strings, does it void my warranty?
2) I get a lot of 'little' buzz for all strings at first ~ 6 frets, OK?
else how can I raise action a little with the FR?
3) Why the neck HBin middle position!? Anyone explain OR changed?
4) Anyone ever change the neck SC PU...kinda bland sound?

Thank you all ...I am so psyched!! Now I need a better amp!! (instead of VOX AD60vt)
thx...Jake

Congratulations!!!

1) Of course it doesn't void your warranty. No one expects you not to change strings through the whole warranty period :D
2) Try to loosen the truss rod a little bit, or maybe even better - take it to a tech to set it up for you.

I don't own a SM model, so I can't help you with the other two questions

Welcome
We've got to see it to believe it - that's the rules :D

The switching system was based on what Steve wanted, so that's how they made it. Probably goes back to how he wired up his original FrankenTele, but I'm not certain.

If you try the search function there have been several threads about the output of the singles on the Morse as there is apparently a considerable difference when switchin from the buckers. As with everything, there are several opinions from those who like it and those who want to change it. There are some forumites who've put a Lollar Blonde in that slot and have liked the results.

Good Luck and post pics

"Bill have you posted pics of your guitars yet?"

Nay Colin, that's a negative. According to Axel they don't actually exist until I do that. You can hit the Myspace link in my signature and have a look at the Slideshow but I should get off my ass and post them shouldn't I?
Yes... I should...

Bill

Bill

Guilty, though I didn't invent that :D

Me too, I'm a bit lazybones with current pics, but as there is lotsa work to do on some of them I'll post only when finished...next week perhaps...

Congrats on the Morse!
I never came across one in person and am really curious about how it would mess with my senses when I try to figure out which switch causes which functionality... Weehaw - crazy ride !

It's not that hard to understand to be honest, although the Y2D is also worth checking out...

Congrats on the Morse! Lots of good answers here. I have a Morse and a Y2D and find the Morse switching quite intuitive when you get used to it. It's all about which pickups you use most- for Steve that's the bridge and neck HB, thus it made sense to have them right next to each other on the selector switch.

I'm one of those guys who swapped out the neck SC for a Lollar Blonde (Tommy on the board's recommendation). Not a major change, but it sounds much nicer to my ears and I can get more in strat country with it now.

Another great thing about this guitar is how great the bridge HB sounds when it's split- it's a real treat and has a very usable twangy tone.

A warm welcome from another Morse-owner (me!)
1) No
2) tross rod adjustment (like said)
3) all said. Morse says it´s all in a logical position for him. You get used to it. Believe what other Morse-owners say ;)
4) It is often called "the secret weapon" of the morse !!! I like it very much! I like it alone and use it a lot and it´s nice to blend with the others. I wish it would placed more towards the neck, but the pickup is fine. And I will not change because I think it is designed to work with the others.
5) pics, please :D

I sent the guitar back to MM. Having them look at weak harmonics on 5th fret and some bad dissonance when the "A" string is fretted on second fret and played with low G for open G chord. It makes a bad 'BLAH" sound.
I tried with several amps to confirm it wasn't amp.

Now I have to wait a few weeks :-(

I will post pics and update when I get back.
