what's up guys. I just traded my 08 parker mojo fly for a new mystic JP6. I'm in love and can't put it down, which is something I couldn't say for the parker. I just never bonded with it so there was ultimately no use for me owning a guitar that expensive and always reach for something else when I played.

Anyhow, the main question on my mind (and something that has probably been asked before) is how the new liquifier and crunch lab pickups sound compared to the current pickups? I love the way it sounds as it is but I'm just wondering if there's any benefit to the new pickups? I know their differences on paper but all I care about is the tonal differences between the two pair.

Here are some pics (the vignette effect makes the back of the headstock look burned)

And below that a couple of videos

Welcome and congratulations on a SWEET JP6! I had the Crunch Lab and Liquifire in my Sterling JP50, which I sold to help fund my new JP6. I don't think there is very much difference at all, but I don't claim to be an expert. The Liquifire seemed to be a little more articulate on cleans, but sounds the same under gain to me. Just my opinion, but I would leave that JP6 alone my friend, marginal difference at best. Let's see what some of the more experienced guys say! Great tones man, nice!! Welcome again and Happy Holidays to you!

Great Guitar, and Oh my God were those killer pictures!
Welcome to the club! To me, the New pickups are similarly voiced, but maybe with a bit more 'punch' and clarity, but also a hair bit more output. They just seem to sustain a bit more than the D-Sonic and older neck pups did, and are only a little different in terms of relative EQ.

great photos how do you get that effect? btw welcome :)

Pictures shot in RAW format with a canon 450D and canon 18-200mm IS lens then processed in Adobe Lightroom 2. You can add vignetting, adjust sharpness and total control over the colors, white balance, exposure, etc.

Shooting in RAW makes manipulating and touching up shots ten times easier than trying to work with a pre-processed Jpeg.

Anyways, I'm uploading another video now (last one for the day haha) of a jam track.

Also, someone on HCAF said I may actually have the new pickups but I don't want to pull them to check. any way to ID the pickups based on the serial number?

Those pics are awesome looking, makes me want a MD finish on my next JP now :)

judging by your stock number compared to mine it seems you would have the new pickups in it already as well.

Congrats and welcome to the family!

As far as the differences between the pickups, I think the descriptions on the DiMarzio site are pretty much spot on. The Crunch Lab is more "open" sounding in the lows and mids than the D-Sonic, and it's a bit more present. The LiquiFire is the best neck pickup I've ever played. It's super smooth and a tad quacky, but not muddy at all.
