Well, someday I'll get around to a long term analysis of the diff between the H/SC and the H/H but tonight I was interrupted by lightning and stuff, and it's too late to try it again.
Freakin' weather here is nuts.
Weight: I picked 'em both up with my actual hands and there seemed to be very little difference. The dual bucker might be a bit heavier, but you wouldn't notice it, I wouldn't think.
Fit, Finish, Details: Both are really beautiful. No weirdness at all except Thomastik Infeld Jazz flats will not, without some work, pull either neck into proper relief. On the 2H, I gave up and strung it with LaBella Deep Talking Flats. On the HSC, I worked a while and it now sports TIs.
I do my own setups and maybe I am better at this than I thought. They play equally well, although the LaBellas are a bit stiffer than the TIs, of course.
Highly Subjective Tone Test:
Both basses were plugged into a Sunn 1200S driving one Ampeg 4-10 and one Ampeg 1-15. No effects, no EQ, no compression, and I used the same cable and volume setting. I put on a Lyle Lovett western swing tune and played along.
With both basses set with everything at center detent, there was really very little difference. The 2H was a bit more bottom heavy, which is maybe to be expected. The blend knob on both basses was also centered.
Then the lightning started.
My wife told me to knock it off, was I crazy?
More as it develops.
