You don't think people would pay that sort of money for a Stingray used extensively by Flea? I mean, I wouldn't, but there are a lot of people out there with money to burn.

The shame is that GC prolly got it for much less. It does hack me off that 'famous basses' are hiked up so much, price-wise.

But I guess that's just the way it is.

It's black on black/Rosewood... Not hard to find if you're not a Flea fan, so it's not like you're in any sticky situation to buy it. And for those fan-addicts, it's a good opertunity to own more crap.

Well that's not entirely true, it is a MM, but it's only been used by Flea, not improved. He didn't add a four thousand dollar preamp he designed. That would be different.

So those who just want a Ray can get a Ray, and those who want the sentimental value can dish out the extra cash.

Years and years ago (about when that bass was made) I lived in Norhern California and ran into someone who then worked at Ernie Ball(I would have to dig up a card to get his name) while we were at a No.Cal luthiers get together.

He mentioned that basses made for flea had been modified at the lower horn, they were cut in a little deeper for him.

BP can you verify this, and that this bass was a bass made for (and probably even given to) Flea...

I would like to own the bass. He is the reason(as with a more than a few of us here) I am playing bass, which then led me down the path of making basses for a living.

I might even consider selling my 1977 Carl Thompson to buy it....
