Question Flea's (RHCP) endorsement

I was wondering what happened to Flea's (Red Hot Chilli Pepppers) endorsement that he had with EBMM?
This was in the late 90's i think, but i read somewhere that he got in trouble for not playing his Sterling(might have been a Stingray) , and playing his Modulus onstage.
BP or anyone else?
I'd love to know the real story behind it.

I think he wanted a siggy and it just did not work out and he moved on. I am not sure if this was talked about in one of Pop's blogs or here on the forum.
