Hey guys, do any of you know of a good case builder that already has a Bongo template drawn up? I’m hoping they could flip it over and make me a lefty Bongo flight case. The only bass flight case I have is for a P-bass, but I want to bring a Bongo to Dude’s School of Bass II.

Any help would be mucho appreciated.:D

Thanks.

I'm thinking of either getting (1) one of those bass safes (where you can put the bass in gig bag in it), (2) or a travel golf club case and use foam around the bass (in the gig bag), or (3) put it in the MM case put it in the shipping box it came in, seal it and put it in baggage.

Best option is to buy one from Steevo and have it waiting for you when you get there. Then have him ship it to your house when you leave.

I know....I'm no help. :)

Chuck, doesn't the Bongo fit that case? If the internal foam is soft foam a 4 banger Bongo will fit the same cutout as a P. One of my single flight cases was made for a J, but will fit a Stingray, Bongo, P or Ric.

This double case of mine was made for two Stingrays, but again, any of the above basses will fit, no problem at all .....

The other option, already mentioned, is an SKB bass safe. I have one of those as well, and they're a great versatile case for air travel.

can't say it enough,

Levy's econo gig bag (i think a CM19?) and an SKB BassSafe, been flying with that set-up for 2years now without incident, the bongo 5 is a tight fit BUT don't worry, it works great.

Mark, you got da case I'm talking about! I’ll dig that P-bass case out today and see if my Bongo will fit, but it’s an exact fit to the P.

I’ve looked at the SKB bass vault, but Dude posted somewhere about the latches could be a problem. I currently own three keyboard cases that the airlines had to buy me, you would not believe what they can do to any case, but the Anvil types have always protected my gear. I know it will be expensive to fly the Anvil type, hell one of them empty will get you into over weight trouble, but we are talking about a MusicMan here, I gotta do whatever it takes!

Here is just one picture of what UPS can do to a double boxed EBMM case; it was like this on both ends…

Believe it or not, the StingRay inside survived without a scratch

I did buy one from Sir Dude with that very intention, but the thing is going to be ready this month!

Can you imagine how much licking it would get laying around Dude’s garage for three months? It’d smell like Crown Royal (clown oil) forever! :D
