I have mine set to float and the action is pretty low, it's more a matter of loosing the springs a little than setting the action.

Cons: As said, the D-tuna becomes unusable, keeps lowering E string to D, but the remaining strings get out of tune, not so much, but more than "musically acceptable"

I used to have an Amber Axis that I had routered under the tail-end of bridge. This allowed it to, "float".
This allowed the Vai antics to come out :)
