The guy @ the music store is an idiot who probably plays a Jackson Dinky (no offense to Jackson lovers ;) )

I've had my EVH model for almost ten years & the MM Floyd is of excellent quality (much better than the one on my Peavey Wolfgang). As far as I know, the Floyds used in the newer Axis models are identical to mine, so try it out for yourself.

The neck on my EB EVH actually moves more than the one on my Wolfgang.
Not a big deal, you just need to adjust it a couple times a year when there are significant temp changes. The Wolfgangs have a graphite rienforcement in the neck, which adds stability, but any unfinished maple neck will move a little.
