Ok so I popped a string on my Axis last night (high E). So this is a little embarassing but I have no idea how to change strings on a floyd rose trem. I've always use a hard tail bridge. Does anyone know of a good video showing this, maybe specifically with an Axis?

It's not to hard to do yourself since the Axis isn't a floating setup.

1) Unlock the nut. (Make sure you look at the orientation of the clamp. If you put it back on sideways, it won't hold and it'll drive you crazy).

2) Unwind the string.

3) Loosen the clamp at the far end of the bridge to release the string.

Now that you have the string off, to re-string;

1) Although you can clip the ball end off, I string a new string through the tuning machine and leave the ball end intact.

2) Clip off the other end of the string about two finger-widths beyond the bridge insertion point.

3) Insert the string into the saddle and tighten the clamp. It doesn't need to be tightened a ridiculous amount.

4) Tune up but leave the clamp (at the nut) unlocked as you'll need to stretch the string a few times. Personally, I pull up on the string from 1/3 away from the nut, then in the middle, and finally a third from the bridge. Do this a few times to get a good stretch.

5) Now tune from the regular tuners and make sure that you leave some movement space in your fine-tuner (as you'll still deal with some pesky string stretching).

6) Clamp down the nut. It doesn't need to be super-tightened to hold.

Voila! That's it. Looks like a lot of steps but once you do it, you'll realize that it's no big deal. I hope this helps. Good luck with it!

Thank you!!!!

That sounds like something even an idiot such as myself can do.

No problem, as an idiot like myself is capable. It's like a regular string change but with two clamps. Just make sure that you don't loosen the bridge clamp before you loosen the string tension or you can lose an eye.
