Fodera Strings on a SR5?

Anybody ever used the Diamond series Fodera strings on their SR or SR5? Seems like a good match for this bass from what I've read but wanted to know if any of you have tried them.

I have used Fodera strings before, but found them a bit too "floppy" for my taste. I have since switched to a tighter string of the same gauge that I love. Not to mention that Fodera strings are becoming increasingly hard to get. I have friends that have been waiting a month for their order.

Thanks Kirby, I had read that they were pretty tight and balanced as far as tone. Nice to hear from someone with experience. What is the "tighter string of the same gauge" that you like?

Dang, a month for their strings, and current wait time of over 4 years for their basses.

Does anyone know who makes the Fodera strings? You might be able to get basically the same strings cheaper and quicker if you knew who makes them.

I have played many, many strings on my SR5, and EB 45-130 (the ones that come on the bass when you buy it) are the best balance of tension, sound, longevity I have found.

I could be wrong, but I believe Fodera actually has their own winding machines. I think I recall hearing this once. I could be totally wrong on this though.

As far as the strings I use, PM me and I will tell you. Out of respect that this is an Ernie Ball board, I will not list them here.

Thats how I understand it as well, they are nice strings though I recently got a bass that has their strings on it.

Fodera

I'm using Fodera Diamonds on my SR5 (and also on my F***er jazz thingy) and I like them - they stay fresh for a reasonable time too.

I have no information on this, but having seen strings manufactured......seems unlikely. But don't think I know, because I don't.

I am not sure if they still do but they did at one point on modified lathes.

When I went to the first MM openhouse I also checked out a few other guitar factories and one was fodera and they do make there own strings I guess that was about 2.5 years ago so unless something has changed then I guess they still make them.

I use slinkys and want to try eb flats eventually

I have recently tried a set of Elites - probably hard to come by unless you live in the UK but they are fantastic also.
