When I first got the guitar, I was impressed, but felt that it was a bit hard to play.. well, all I needed to do, was change from the stock .10 strings to .09 strings.. I've never been so relieved in my life.. I know, I know.. I would have gotten used to the .10s.. but jeez! :p

After I changed the strings, the guitar changed completely! It's now by far the best guitar I've ever played

I experienced the same thing and put 9's on my JP. I have different gauges on my other guitars such as: Strat-10's, Les Paul-10's, archtop-11's, IbanezP4-9's. All are Ernie Ball strings by the way. I do prefer stiffer strings for most playing, but for doing whole step bends and holding the note with vibrato I have better control with 9's. But, in the last few weeks I've been playing my Strat alot and now the 9's on the JP are feeling kind of sloppy, especially while playing arpeggios. So I'm probably gonna go back to 10's on the JP.

Hi,
Does this mean all ernieball music man guitars come stock with a set of .10 strings? Would it possible to ask for mine to come with a set up of .9s? Ordered mine two months ago and i would very much prefer to play with .9s. Thanks

Just changing a new Pet from 10s to 9s w/o a setup sounds odd. Now you think it' plays great?

Again, your opinion. :p

I have to agree. Let's face it - we all have our opinions of what we are looking for in feel and tonal quality. I for one was *slightly* disappointed in my Pet when I first got it - both in playability and sound. I immediately started to wonder what all the fuss was about. That was until I took the plunge and put 9's on it. To me they added what was missing in the high end and made it sound MUCH more alive to me. Playability improved accordingly. Now my JP6 is the best playing guitar I own. I won't be going back to 10s in the near future...
