The post about what if you won the lottery made me think about this. As I am sure I am not the only one who does guitar lessons and this is something I get from my students and their parents all the time

Your budget is $1,500-$2,000 what gear would you get

Remember this gear has to cover a decent range of music styles, to make things easier, you already have an EB MM guitar

amp?

pedals?

what else?

For that kind of coin you could get into a used Silo Special with SSH, a nova delay, a hardwire tube overdrive, a TC Electronic SCF, and a HotRod Deville 410. Swap out the Tube overdrive for a Keeley DS1 if you want to play heavier. My 2 cents.

Good concept, Voo! here's what I would get:

Line6 Spider Valve 212
Line6 FBV Shortboard

And that would come in under the $1500 price point...

If go used, I think something versatil may be a used mesa boogie DC-5 combo and a used boss GT-6, that's what I have been using and covers a lot of ground, in my case that was around 750 dlls total.

If I did not own my PRS and Peavey then the rest of my gear would fit in that budget easily... So, I think I've done pretty good! I'm not hard to please...

well, it'd be my amp (orange thunderverb 50), an EQ pedal, a boost pedal, a delay, and a wah(EB). of all of those, i only miss the EQ and the boost.

OK - let's call it £1500 in real money ;)

Mmmmm difficult one that.

On a budget I would get a Blackstar 30 watt 2 x 12 combo circa£1200.
That leaves me with £300 for a compressor, Wah and overdrive if possible.

Great thread.

Here's my choices to go with my Luke

Radial Tonebone PLexitube
Boss tuner
TC Electronic reverb
Boss DD3
Blackstar 100 series combo
Boss GE7 graphic eq pedal (my clean boost pedal)

I reckon I'll still be in budget with this lot.

If you are on a budget: The Danelectro mini Chicken Salad is just awesome. It is awesome if you are not on a budget. A real Uni-vibe. I am re-housing one right now.

I should also give a plug to Frenzel.

Beautiful point to point hand wired amplifiers.

FRENZEL Tube Amps

Sadly I'm in the process of selling my Twin Plexi Reverb.

Budget and Simplicity demands a simple answer.

Dr. Z Amplifiers.

If I had a ball with single coils or MM90's...

Mazerati GT/Route 66 or Remedy 1x12 Combo, DD-3 Delay, TS-9 Tubescreamer, EB Wah.

Unbelievable tone.
