For those in the Northeast who are Morse fans!!

Quite pricey for me, but it might be a great thing for some.

I'd be interested to hear how this goes for people. That's the normal price for these things. Judas Priest had one earlier this year and I was *dying* to go. After seeing a couple of videos on YouTube of it, I was REALLY glad I didn't. (Only Rob Halford and Richie Faulkner were there. No Glenn Tipton or Scott Travis!) It seemed like *such* a letdown. This format seems to be geared towards real guitarists, so I would expect it to be a six-string nerd-fest. And that's not a bad thing!

Would love to meet Steve Morse and see him play live, but I think I would feel very uncomfortable at something like this. Too self-conscious about my playing I guess!

I know how you feel. I hate playing in front of other guitarists because I'm worried that they play better than I do.
I also don't like to shower in front of other men so that other comparisons don't happen. :D

I think that these fantasy camps are great! I was so interested in the Vai Academy last year so I went and put myself on email list. If money and time were no object, these things would certainly be penciled in.

Funny you should single out Steve for that. He's about the only one in that list I WOULD feel comfortable around (and I really suck). After meeting him at the open houses and the DuBaldo clinic several years ago, I have never met a more humble, non-judgemental, supportive artist (not that I've met many). The point is that he comes across as completely genuine. I would LOVE to have him as a teacher!

I'm seriously considering going to the deal above - not sweating the money, but the "kitchen pass" from SWMBO...

Mike, agreed, I've meet Steve on a few occasions as well and he is such a great person. Hence, the reason I posted the link, plus it was in the Northeast. I think it might be fun, but I'm the worst of the worst and the $$ is way, way too high for me.

Agreed....after seeing the reality show they made out of it at one point, I didn't care for the format or the antics. Wouldn't interest me in the least, especially given the cost. I would, however, still love to have Steve as a teacher. :p

"Kramer goes to a fantasy camp. His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down two-thousand dollars to live like him for a week. Do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors, and have sex without dating. *That's* a fantasy camp!" :D

Makes me a little sad to see Steve partaking in something like this, it kind of has a 'has been' vibe to it. Being a very self conscious person as well, he's the one person I would actually not be shy playing in front of because I know he would not be judging me. I saw him at a clinic not long ago where he played and shared all kinds of info and anecdotes, very funny, personable..great all around human being.

For the thousand dollar upcharge for master clinic/lessons, screw the fantasy camp, let me pay that grand for a week of master lessons with Morse, Bumblefoot, and Hoey. 8 hours of studio time... laughable...

I always thought these things are so lame, the artists are "ON" if you know what i mean, so you dont get to see what they're really like, coupled with gushing fanboys that the artists are humoring, it seems like a forced thing, dont get me wrong all the guys seem real nice , esp Morse, and it would be cool to chill with any of them, but not for money, it would be cool to bump into the guys in a studio setting and be lucky enough to jamm and trade licks an storys, but for cash just ruins the experience, at least for me.

I took a Master Class with Dweezil Zappa. I wanted to ask him if he misses playing his Albert Lees, but I didn't want to be a dick. I bet he does miss them, though. It was a good class with about 20 or 25 of us. It lasted about one hour, and it was only $75. It was well worth it. He stayed afterward to sign things and take pictures. He was very nice.

That's what I'm talking about! That is what master classes/clinics should be like. He made bank off of it, and no one spent enough to feel ripped off.

I did Musicians Institute, which was like a year of that fantasy camp, and lemme tellya, as a legitimate school with legitimate teachers and legitimate students, there were enough delusional deadbeats for me to know that those fantasy camps would be stupid and not helpful. You know how much gear you could get with 5 grand? How much studio time? How many lessons? I imagine they are for suckers, rich kids, or rich adults (who by all means deserve to spend their hard earned surplus where they please)

But yeah this $5k is crazy, and guys like Joe Perry certainly dont need the money, so i dont know what the appeal is, meeting an icon? Or being a gushing fanboy that felt burnt, but maybe $500, and even that i would not be into the whole scene, to me its kinda corny, and id rather spend the money get front row seats to a show with my wife and spend a weekend at a top notch hotel with her and have some REAL memories! HA!
