I know a few of the members here use the Axe Fx. I am currently looking into buying the atomic reactor 50/50 tube amp and powering either the passive cab or wedge.

wondering if any of you have had experience with them and what your opinions are on them. I am not gigging and don't really need to push air like 4x12's; playing my Jp6 and axis into my Ultra just not sounding as great via my KRK's.

if you have had expereince with both the cab and wedge, is there any discernable difference in sound and volume with the two?

Thanks!

No experience with the Atomics. I have the FBT Verve 12ma's and they are awesome. I had QSC powered monitors before and found them brittle sounding; some mid high freqs I didn't like.

Atomic are very good for home practice or small club

you must have to works on your patches they aren't real FRFR cabs like your KRK

using axe fx needs to redefine patches at each time you change of powering mods

i love mine with Fryette power amp and stereo CAE Cabs but i'm really thiking about find an Egnater M4 2 preamp and use the Axe like an effect unit it's an old standard

hmm..see I am not in a band (currently or probably in near future) so mostly for home playing needs. my KRK G2 RP'8s are not doin it for me, mind you, i haven't spend oodles of time playing with EQ's.

I used to have a mesa 2:90 and assorted cabs (mesa flavoured) and it was great for many sounds..but one trick pony. the Axe Fx seems to be designed (in principle) to allow you a wide array of amps/cab sims. not to say that you can't be happy using it just for amp sims into a great p.a/cab setup.

I know there are other solutions (FRFR) QSC's/verve etc...but i know these are defineitely overkill for me..as they seem geared for stage playing.

my dilemna is this: currently in apt/condo and can't push too much volume (so whatever i get needs to sound decent at low volumes...would be great if it also doubled in situations where i was jamming with friends and/or small club at some point)
do I for the time being just updgrade my studio monitors to something like the Adam AX7's? or is that kind of negligible in terms of what jump in improvement my 'none audiophile expert ears' will discern in the end???

or

atomic cab/wedge giving me versatiility in cab sims and emulating other amps -but are they going to sound lack lustre because of the atomic quality? if i go for another cab solution (and i've alredy tried a few mesa's) will i end up at square one again? i 'm just tired of losing money each time I turn something over whilst looking for my perfect rig...is this just the curse of all players?:) cuz my pocket book is having a hissy fit. sorry for this stream of consciousness here, but i could really use some input. thx
