"This was a gift to me from Steve himself in 2000." WHAT THE HELL??? I wish Luke was in a giving mood when l meet him, l might of got another EBMM Luke, signed and all. :p . hehe just kidding, the guy is very cool.

Current high bidder, luketoto...gee I wonder if he's a fan

Hehe yeah, it's almost as stupid as having slukather as your username. hehe.

Is $40 a high price to pay for shipping in the U.S.???

It would be cheaper than getting it shipped to Australia. I would love to get it, but l've got 2 Lukes already. If l had only one Luke, l'd be all over this like a fat kid on chocolate cake. Whoever get's it though, is gonna have a very nice guitar.

You didn't know what slukather stood for??? hehe

Friends today at work were asking me questions and all that about my band, and one teacher asked, who's your biggest influence? Steve Lukather, then the confused look on their face, then the famous line "who's that?" and l'm used to it now, hehe.

Well growing up, Hold the Line was one of my most favorite songs, as well as other Toto classics, but when your a punk, like I was, half in the bag you really don't care who's behind the chops...AH THAT SOLO!

Hoping JDOUGLEE swings by this thread to chime in (as he is way more familiar with Luke's discography), but Toto only represents a portion of Steve's playing.

And some of Luke's most inspired stuff came from his fusion groups. Try tracking down the BAKED POTATO LIVE cd recorded in the early 80's. (though it was pre EB, he was using his valley arts guitar back then). I was at those shows sitting like 10 feet from the stage in a teeny tiny club that served up HUMONGOUS baked potatoes.

Also Luke's DVD is amazing, and it looks to me like he's playing a Purple Luke!

oh yeah, Toto's just the tip of Lukes work, l've been trying to hunt down that Baked Potato cd. The Los Lobotomys dvd is fantastic, and l have some bootleg Dvd's, and some of Luke session work, but l love Luke's solo album "lukather", it might be a bit "80's", but it's what got me into Luke and wanted me to play guitar, l still get shivers when l listen to the solos in "Drive a croaked road". Absolulty fantastic.

I can't imagine selling such a gift as that. It's not like you are cleaning house and say, "I really never use this anymore, I should sell it or give it away." It's a high end guitar for crying out loud. lol. I'd feel wierd about doing it that's for sure.

Still, I've got to quit coming here every day.... All these guitars that I can't have... it's killing me! LOL.

I still haven't been able to budget in shipping costs to get my 7 string to EB for repairs. I'd probably have to get a new RA number by now....

I've got to get a better job. lol

That's exactly what I thought. Either the seller has got serious monetary issues or he is a total jerk ;)

By the way, Raz: check out Larry Carlton and Steve Lukather's "No Substitutions (Live in Osaka)" CD - absolutely awesome work of two of the world's best guitar players.
My all time's favourite tune is "Froth" on the "Candyman" CD... man, it's absolutely killing me. (Hint: don't listen to that one on dope, it'll just blow your head off  :D )

Heres a link to Lukes full body of work, if interested. It's hard to recommend a song or album, there's just so much he's done, and most of it is great.

No substitutions is a fantasic album, I love Lukes tone on it, and fantastic playing all around.

Yeah that is true, l still can't believe Luke gave him this guitar and now the tosser is selling it, maybe l should of just asked Luke for one myself, it was probably that easy, then again, probably not, hehe.

It needs the piezo switch replaced, a new preamp, and the high e saddle is too far forward and I can't bend down on the bar without it rocking on that saddle at the post.

I got a tax return so I should be able to send it in sometime in the next week or so. I seem to recall that Jon is out on Fridays???? Maybe not, I just have that stuck in my head for some reason, but I'll call Monday and give an update. My job search has been killing me.
