...I did notice that unfortunately, even the best builders like EBMM make a mistake now & then.

They left the frets off!!
WOW.

I'm sure if you contact CS (they have a good reputation), they can arrange to have it returned and repaired.

I see the same thing happen; occasionally Basses come off the line w/ 5- even 6- strings (and tuners.)
No worries, they'll fix 'em up and can re-configure them to be REAL Bass Guitars.
