That is a fantastic read. Much respect for Mr. Ball. I love businesses that are not slaves to the next quarterly earnings report.

Well you gotta give BP & Co credit. We love the guitars, but ANY business has to be successfully run... and EBMM is.

I read that article too. hats off to EB for achieving that. A lot of hard work went into that I'm sure.

A guy in my class in school in the UK is on the Forbes Rich list - he invested in Google /E bay , and the rest is history.
Real nice guy too - shame I never kept in touch lol

Great article!
I really enjoyed it. Thanks for posting!

Did I read correctly that Brian Ball is largely responsible for the development of the COBALT strings? If so then extreme-massive-awesome kudos go out to him!

Cheers,

Tom

Hmm, Im actually not a fan of that article as a whole (nothing to do with Sterling either). The writer makes it seem like "playing guitar" is "niche" and "eclectic" like my past time is something only for hipsters now.

Was interesting to read that JP is the second-best-selling signature guitar - MAJOR big deal there - JP and the whole EBMM gang deserve to take a bow for their collective efforts being recognized so strongly in the market place! :)

Yep and the number one being the Les Paul, which there's a gazillion versions of it. But damn the JP beats signature guitars like Gilmour's black strat and many other super famous guitar players is an amazing feat.

actually the guys tells it like it is....the guitar is not doing well currently. It is a niche deal and especially electrics....
Our biggest retailer is Guitar Center and they are restructuring again to to decreased growth and crushing debt from an ill fated venture capital deal with Bain...ITs not good dont blame the writer he actually understands where the guitar sits...EDM is crushing guitar...hip hop..euro pop....we just need a three chord band to hit

Interesting read. Gives me even -more- respect for the Ball family.
And makes me feel proud to be able to be a tiny, distant part of the extended family... :)

I visit many guitar manufacturer forums and none of them have the Big Man show up on the forums and interact with their users. Awesome stuff.

But yeah I agree the guitar is in trouble, it has been for a while now and it's sad. It's sad that music instruments are being replaced by a laptop. I really wish a guitar revolution like in the early 90's happens again soon.
