This was in "Rockin'" August 1978 magazine, the People Into Music issue.

BP, was this just a list of common gauges used on these instruments, or what was in it?

yes it was so people could replace other makers gauges from our single box if they broke a string...problem is that every body switched to our gauges

The music shop I worked in as a kid had that guide there was also a copy of it taped to our ernie ball single strings whhich were in a wooden box and the guages in were in seperate sections.

I also remember having to open packs of slinky's to top up the spares ( the dealer went bust about 15 years ago...)

Oh man - that wasn't yesterday!! - Thanks for the trip back !

Correct me if I am wrong but there's a spelling mistake on the word 'Balalaika'. It says Balaliaka. It something like Hilary Clinton giving the 'peregruzka' button to the russian minister rather than 'perezagruzka'. Cool
