I just got my guitar back from EB yesterday and I just noticed that there is a buzz on the 6th fret. Is there anything I could to do solve this problem?

Steve....I just checked my records, and your guitar was not worked on here at EB/MM If you had it repaired I would take it back to where the work was done. FYI, if you are having problems with your guitar and anyone other than us works on it, it could void your warranty. In the meantime, try turning the truss rod wheel slightly counter clockwise, then check the buzz....Sometimes it's as simple as that.

I sent in my guitar but no work was done on it, they just said that I needed to get a direct box.

And it wasn't buzzing before? If it wasn't, I would try turning the truss rod a bit more. Nothing was done to your guitar, so it could be that the change in temps, humidity etc caused the neck to move a bit.

I always wonder what people mean when they say a string buzzes on a fret. To me, and how I like to set up my action, the strings rattle against all the frets. This is the nature of the electric instrument. To get the action to where it doesn't rattle at all would mean a way more high action that would be acceptable to me on an electric...more like an acoustic action.
On the other hand, even though the strings rattle...they all rattle evenly, so to speak. Thats different than say you were to climb up the neck on a string playing each fret and listening and then hitting a fret where the sound totally "frets out"...a more really nasty buzz/rattle sound thats not at all consistant with how all the other frets sounded. Then there's a problem but most likely nothing that a good grind and polish wouldn't fix.
When watching, for instance, one of my Steve Morse instructional videos, you can hear the rattling when he's playing at the times he's playing with the guitar turned down...himself, as well as other players tapes I've watched. It's natural.
Good luck

Well it's all preference, what's acceptable to you the player, but generally I believe the buzzing you hear with the electric unplugged is acceptable to most, however if the buzzing is heard while plugged in then it's a different story

Well, since we're on the subject...my AL has a buzz in one spot. High e at the 12th fret.

I would assume the 13th fret needs to be dressed?
