Hi,

Could I get the specs for fret heights after dressing for the different models. I had an EVH and a Sil Special, and even thought they both use the same wire (6105), the Sil was .042" high while the EVH was close to .050".

I'm curious about the Luke, Axis, and Sil.

thanks, Al

I'm interested in replies regarding this subject too.....

I bought a used JPM6 and whilst its obvious that the frets are wider compared to those on the Axis they seem to be very "flat-topped". So much so that when you bend around the 12th fret it feels what I can only describe as scratchy (almost seems like the string is brushing the fret behind IYKWIM). I have a feeling the guy before me may have had a bad fret dress. Anyone have similar experiences?

Thanks

Dave

DaveB,

Jongitarz mentioned in another post that the JP guitar uses the same fret wire as the EBMM basses. (It's their only guitar to do so..)

I have a JP6, but I don't have the same situtation around the 12th fret that you described. I'm not qualified enough to know whether a bad fret dressing could cause that.. but to me it sounds more like backbow, which could be cured by adding a little relief via the trussrod adjustment.

I've found that HOW a fret is dressed makes all the difference in the world. I've both an EVH, Wolfgang, and Sil Special. All of them use Dunlop 6105 frets and when undressed they are about .055" high. My Wolf measured .052', the Sil measured .042 and the EVH was in between. I actually took .010" off the Wolfgang to get rid of the "speed bump" feeling.

thanks,

al

fret height AFTER a dressing is determined by how much was needed to be taken off to level out the pits or low spots that were there before the dressing.....

This makes me think I'm gonna need new frets on my Pet when I send it in to Jon for the pimp job, it has some serious wear in the first few frets :(
