Yikes that looks normal to some people? not only are the frets shot to hell the fretboard is starting to scallop. I guess i have never played just one guitar long enough to experience anything like that. what does the fretboard look like on the rest of the guitar? if the first two fret areas looks that worn I can only imagine what it looks like around the more common string bending area 5-9 frets.

It's personal preference. While some of the other vendors you've mentioned don't notice a difference, many of their endorsed artists have said they do ;)

EBMM has their ear to the ground. I'm sure if the endorsed artists start asking for it, it would trickle down. (You'd go through strings faster though.)

I think we can agree that guitarists are the most anal, nit picky people in the world when it comes to tone. Any perceived difference, real or not becomes an issue.

It seems to me that plenty of their endorsed artists use SS, but the only reason I brought those builders up was because they are respected names that use SS. Like I said that doesn't mean they are right, or that their word should be taken as anything other than opinion.

I don't go through strings with SS much faster than I do with nickel. Not enough to make an appreciable difference anyway.

PLus the fact of strings being a lot cheaper than frets i would have thought would have been more of a factor.

No amount of fret dressing is going to sort that out , surly its unplayable ?
Either a re-fret or a new neck is required there.
I’m embarrassed to call the neck on my Luke worn compared to that morse neck , I think my problem was more to do with the uneven frets more than wear .

Out of curiosity I wonder how much new necks are to buy from EBMM?

For real. If I had a guitar that looked like this I'd be neck shopping.

You are crazy ! This neck is marvelous ! It's a joy to play with it !

My Morse is 150 % playable ! If you want to see it : next show, tomorrow at 9 PM (Pub ADK, Roissy en Brie ... France, well perhaps a bit far away from Wales ).

In fact, the wear is quite uniform. The frets are perhaps lower but there is no "ditch" (sorry, I'm not sure it's the good English word) that can block your strings when you bend a note.

Ok, I agree that my Morse does not look "brand new", but myself I am not so young anymore. We are getting older together !

That Luke has been played a lot and as previously mentioned, even the board is showing signs of serious cord work(jeez, the original owner must have loved it) however its certainly is not past a good stoning,i've worked on much much worse. Is there much wear anywhere else? Dont go for a re fret yet.
