Hi there,

I have a question regarding the fretboard on my stingray.
I have been playing it for only one year and it looks like this (but actually it was already starting to look like this from the beginning):

It looks very dry, is this normal? (should I contact CS for this?)

I bought it at the end of 2009 from Basscentral, but it was in the shop since 2007 (but in it's case), don't know if it has anything to do with being untouched for 2 years..

As Mr.Musashi said, you need to nurture that fingerboard, wood is a living thing it can dry out depending on the ambient, when I bought my Bongo in 2009, it was brand new but it was built in 2003 and had been in stock with the UK distributor for all that time, when I first received it the fingerboard looked exactly like yours if not worse.

I then removed the strings and treated/soaked the fingerboard with lemon oil first ensuring moisture was allowed to sink completely in the wood, then wiped off all the excess and used the EBMM Wonder Wipes Fretboard Conditioner to finish it off. Now almost 2 years down the line I use the Wonder Wipes at every string change to maintain the fretboard supple and this is what it looks like now:
