FS: Axis SS rosewood

I want to love this guitar, I really do, and believe me I've tried. It's got so many great attributes, and looks stunning. However, this is my third EBMM, and I've sold all three in short order, all for the same reason - the necks are too doggone thin. I'm ready to just call it quits, cut my loses, and give up on the brand.

Hence, this beautiful guitar is now for sale. I've had it for about three months, and gigged with it a half dozen times. I baby my guitars, and this instrument is in perfect condition. Refer to the pics

Yep, still too thin, the Petrucci ridiculously so. The JP seems designed to be a shredder's guitar. Nothing wrong with that, it's just not what I like.

I won't go prattling on about non-EBMM guitars in this forum, but I do have several instruments from other builders that fit the bill for me very nicely.

Hmmm, perhaps I'm using the wrong terminology. What I'm referring to is not the width from one side of the fingerboard to the other, but rather the girth of the neck; I.E. the distance from front to back. That's why I use the terms thick and thin instead of wide or narrow.

Picture the difference between a 50's LesPaul neck (very chunky) and a 90's Ibanez neck (very thin). It's how the neck fills your palm when you grasp it. That's what I'm trying to convey.

Some people like big chunky necks, others like thin, slender necks. To each his own, and there are plenty of fine examples of each.

I know what you mean regarding neck comfort. I fell in love with an SG standard profile neck while I played my carvin dc127. Then, compared to a USA Custom Schecter, I actually preferred the thinner carvin neck, but at the same time, really enjoyed playing my chunky Gibson Melody Maker neck. I guess what I'm trying to say, perhaps there's more to your disdain than simply neck size. If you don't like it, then you don't like it. I've learned that I shouldn't have to try to love a guitar simply because I paid big bucks for it. If I don't like it, I won't buy it.
With that said, I have to say that the Rosewood Axis that I played at Guitar Center in Austin, TX had the best feeling neck I've ever felt.

I appreciate your point, but not all players are comfortable going back and forth between neck shapes. For me personally, the older I get, and I'm now 44, the more I find that playing a slender neck profile causes me to experience cramping and soreness in my hands, particularly when playing throughout a 4 hour gig.

Trust me, it's the neck. I like everything else about the AxisSS, as I liked everything else about the Luke.

My Richie Kotzen Tele has the thickest neck i have ever played. Like a friggin tree! And I have small hands!!!!!!!

You mean, like these? The PRS wide/fat neck profile seems to fit me very well.

I have to say though, that for me thats one of the beauties of guitars, how one mans saviour can be another mans poison.

It does tickle me whenever people seem to just have no concept of this online though, don't even get me started on Harmony Central.

Selling off the last of the EBs? Sorry to read that, but if a forum member picks this one up too, they will be pleased (for those who don't know, I bought Kane's Emerald Green Axis a while back, and it was in excellent condition).

I know what you mean about hand cramping on a neck that isn't fat enough - for years I could only manage on chunky Les Paul necks, but fortunately I find the asymetrical carve of the neck manages to fit my palm nicely enough that I can add a bit of variety to my weaponry.

Hopefully you will be able to have as smooth a deal selling the Rosewood as when you sold the Axis to me.

In addition to the awesome tone expected from an Axis, you guys need to feel the rosewood neck on this guitar!
