Yes, it's that coveted "rare" coveted Burnt Apple colour on a Sil Spec (DOB 2/11/03) . In great shape- no noticable dings, dents or scratches. (I'm now a Luke convert, so I'm clearing out the Silhouette Specials.)

Silo specials clearout ?

Hi,

I'm in UK but I'm looking for a pre-owned Silo special at the moment and have just joined the forum after reading up on them. I'm a diehard PRS man up to now but I'm selling on a rare Firebird and want to use the cash to get a really nice Silo special.
What other guitars are you selling on ?
Would you ship any to UK ?

Cheers

I've sold off a few, so this is the last one for a while :p

I would ship to the UK if you're interested, however the shipping plus duty would be pretty expensive- you might be best to try eBay and track one down in the UK. Feel free to contact me offline if you're still interested.

Pete,

I am also in Leeds. The nearest shops for EBmm guitars new/used are Electro Music in Doncaster or possibly Sounds Great in Manchester, they both have websites.

I got my Luke from Scheerers, but they've replaced the guitar section with a drum department!?!.

Leeds !!!

Hi Owen,
nice to see someone right on the doorstep....

Ive tried Electromusic in Donnie , and they have 2nd hand silhouette ( but not the special I wanted ) I wondered how the standard silhoutte compares to the special ??

What do you play ? Do you gig locally ?

Pete,

I’ll keep an eye out for local deals, Spectre Sounds in Bingley might be another place to try, Ebmm dealers seem to be few & far between up North. It’s worth checking with the folks on this board on any Ebay sales, as you have probably read, there are a lot of scams. There’s quite a nice Steve Morse available for about a grand at the moment.

I can’t comment on the Silos as I haven’t played any, all I can say is that any of these guitars are worth having, the build quality is superb and the necks are the best you will find, great support from the company. I would have bought more if we were paying US prices, but you will be lucky to find anything new under £1000, 2nd hand £750ish.

I haven’t played in a band for years, I just play when I can these days (other commitments - wife + 2 kids). I play mainly blues/jazz – I listen to Lukather, Landau, Carlton, Clapton, SRV etc.

What’s the name of your band?, when/where are you gigging?

New Avatar featuring the Luke then?

I think burnt apple is my second favorite color after blue dawn. Very nice looking. I might keep it and put some emg's in it since you can't get a Luke in that color, or maple fretboard. Just a thought. It sounds like you do a fair amount of customizing from some of your other posts.

Yeah ... I'm sorely overdue for a new avatar ...

BTW- thanks Keith for evangelizing the Luke! Probably wouldn't have tried it otherwise.

Yeah, I'm seriously considering that. I'm not desperate to sell it, so if there's no real interest I'll just hold onto it. Plus, I have quite a few spare pickups kicking around and there's a few wiring mods I'd like to try out ...

Man, do I love EBMM guitars. They just don't make a bad one.

RE: the Luke

Sure. Glad you found them to your liking.

One of my great pleasures was seeing Steve Lukather at the ERNIE BALL booth at Namm a year ago and getting a chance to tell him what a great signature guitar it was and how lucky I felt to play them. Which he obviously appreciated very much.

For anyone considering this guitar... back off. It's spoken for.

I'll be working out the details with beej this week.

I had always planned on getting a silo sooner or later. The "rare sparkly Burnt Apple" just makes it that much more appealing to get one sooner rather than later.

Oh Yeah, forgot that.
:)

You gotta tell steve you already ordered one when you see him at the clinic. He'll be very happy to answer any questions you have on it. Maybe he'll even bring THAT ONE ONLY to the clinic.

BTW When I saw him do a clinic in feb '04, he stayed and signed over 100 autographs even though he was being pressed to get out of there for the DP show that night.

You may wanna swing by AMAZON and pick up his book OPEN EARS. Only 10 bucks, a great read, and the perfect thing for him to sign.

Actually I was going to have him sign my receipt. I know that sounds kinda lame, the book sounds like a better option. I'll go check it out.

thanks for the heads up.

Receipt?

Maybe you can ask him if he can get you a little better deal. :D

Have your cell phone handy to call the place. I'll bet he cracks up and is willing to talk to 'em.

20 years ago he posed for a picture of me showing him how to play a chord on the guitar. Just a very good guy. (Him, not me)

I remember that picture. Now that is something to have!! Didn't he say something about the stretch of the chord hurting his hand? :p

Funny thing about the book. Steve's always been held in the highest regard by guitar players and most musicians, but he had to scrape by for the longest time, getting screwed by various peeps along the way...but there's not a hint of bitterness in any of his writings in that book.

And he's always given so much back to the guitar community. I miss new dregs music and more touring, but I'm thrilled he's making really nice money with DP, some money with EB ;) , and any miniscule money with the dregs and smb.
