yup. I bought a small tube of graphite at the hareware store and mixed it with vaseline. put it in a small earring jar with a screw top. It's lasted for years and is still only 1/2 gone. All friction points get "lubed". saddles, nuts, string trees.

I FINALLY fixed my JP trem instability! It was the saddles of the G, B and high E strings (particularly the G) that were binding, and not the nut as I first suspected. I put on the Graphtech saddles a few days ago and still had the issue!

Then, I was carefully looking and listenting to everything with the guitar on the bench while depressing the trem and I heard the tell-tale "tink" sound coming from the bridge. So I put some nut lube on the G string saddle and that fixed it! (I also lubed the B and high E saddles, too). Looks like because the Graphtechs are so new that they were binding, too, just like the original metal saddles were. That really threw me off there for a while. However, I fully expect the Graphtechs to break in and not need lube in the future.

So, if you're having issues with tuning stability on any non-locking trem, don't forget to check the saddles, Grasshopper. :D

This baby works like my double locking trems now. I am very happy. Plus, I love the sound of the Graphtechs. They really helped brighten the tone up, which I have always thought to be a little too dark for my taste. ;)

Good news. But I always found those Graphtechs darkened the tone and took away some bright edge. That is why I like the cast steel saddles better.

Tone is such a weirdly subjective thing, isn't it? :D I hear a slightly brighter tone with mine.

Anyways... I decided to use the Graphtechs instead of your mod (which is awesome, BTW) because the binding I was having was actually occuring at the back of the saddle, not on the tic-tac looking piezo part.
