Hey there,

I joined these forums too late in the game for the Dargie Delights. I think it was a GREAT idea and I'm glad the enthusiasm was through the roof. I probably would have passed anyway on the DD simply because I'm an Axis man, but I just wanted to know if these forum-only type offerings were planned in the future as well, with other models. Were there other forum guitars before the DD? I hope other 'special edition' guitars keep happening in this manner.

The idea of a forum only instrument was thrown around by BP, but people wanted all kinds of crazy stuff and it just seemed to get overwhelming, so it got axed, so to speak.

The Dargie Delight idea came about on the Bass side, Dargin (Scott Ball) has a Martini Olive Green bongo, Jack ended up with one for forum work as a matter of thanks from BP and EBMM. Other loved the color and begged for them to offer it as an LE or a limited time type of thing, if memory serves me right.

It wasn't just a Forum thing dealers could order them as well and if you are in the market, you should call Customer Service and see if they can help you locate the Dargie of your dreams.

As for it happening again, don't hold you breath man, BP mentioned that they were gonna be lucky to break even on the Dargies. EBMM is a business and businesses need to make money to stay alive and breaking even doesn't help the bottom line.

Here is some light reading, use the Advanced Search function and type in Dargie.

Hope this helps, Glenn |B)

that's understandable that this most likely won't happen again. Business IS business. I'm happy for all the people that are amped about the guitars. good stuff, maynard

I ducked under the desk when I read the title of this thread

That said, the unique BFR's we'll see in the future will likely get shown up here first if history is any indicator. Which means anyone paying attention may be able to track down some fantastic one-offs before they make their way into the wild ;)

Beej is right, and additionally, the BFR instruments will not necessarily be one-offs. As Big Poppa said.. they might make one or they might make 100 of a particular idea. It depends on the availability of materials, marketability of the design (i would guess), and whatever BP, Dudley and Dargin feel like doing with that design.

So, while I wouldn't look for a 'forum only' instrument, you might see a subset of the Dargie idea... a limited run of a wild idea. But I doubt it would be available in as many models as the Dargie.. I'm sure that's what made the Dargie cost the most... it was available on a majority of the models EBMM makes! Very generous on the part of BP.. that run of Dargies had to use up some of his club soda money!

When the DD window was reopened i made enquires about a 7 string pet. But, decided it just wasn't for me and I posted that i'll be more prepared next time a forum guitar is planned. BP responded by saying that he doubts it will as they will be fortunate to break even with the DD's. I think it's amazing that a company in this day and age will put themselves in that position for their loyal customers. I'd love to see it happen again but I do understand why it probably wont. But, the BFR's seem like a fabby idea.
I love the things EBMM plan for their customers. I just sometimes wish they'd slow down because I know as soon as I buy my next one there will be something on the horizon i wish id held out for. But ah well. It's fun seeing everybody get excited and posting pics.
On the posting pics, I wonder who will post a pic of their dargie first. I know we've seen a Luke already, but I mean once they've been made and sent out. It's getting close!
