So...Im a Stingray fan and I need advice on which lightweight head to get!

Can anyone advise me?

I currently run an all Orange AD200b Mk3 Stack and have the Ampeg 810 as well for the full on 8x10 sound.

I want a lightweight head for a different sound and portability. Also for some more fluid slap and more hi fi tones.

I love the LM2....anyone tried the new GB or MB stuff out yet?!

I would say it's more of red delicious vs. braeburn.

I have tried both a Genz-Benz Shuttle and a LMII.

Both a bit of a toss up. I tend towards the LMII because I find the controls simpler for what I want.

Not much I know about the Max and the LMIII.

Markbass all the way! My f1 made my old svt 8-10 sound great! Now I am using an ampeg 2-12 cabinet. Sounds killer thru that also,

So if I go for the LMtube/LM3 the 500W at 4ohms is more than enough yeah?!

People keep going on about having 600-1000W!!!

I have a Shuttle 6.0, and it's superb. Full, powerful, warm sound. My Bongo sounds great through it, especially with the little bit of grit from the tube.

By all reports the Markbass stuff is excellent too, and the twice I have used an LMII I have been impressed. You really need to try what you can...

I would buy the Shuttle.

I have had 5 MarkBass amps and 2 had "issues". Ive had a less than steller time getting the ball rolling on repairs as well.

I've been using the Shuttle 6.0 for over a year now and it's excellent. Very loud, definitely NOT thin.... I eq it with a bump in the low mids, my preference. It's versatile - clean, or gritty... whatever you want, very reliable, great customer service. I have tried the LM head, and thought it was cool, I like the VLE circuit, it's an easy way to get the old school tone. The mid scoop one... (VLF?) didn't impress me as much.

I also really like the Shuttle cabs...

The Markbass F500 is also a great choice. It is basically the same amp as the F1 with a few added features. I have used it with many different cabs and basses and it always sounds great .When I do travel dates and have to use rented backline the Markbass is always my ace in the hole. So small and light ,it fits in the front of my gigbag.

+1 plus their customer service is exceptional!

Luckily for me, as my Shuttle failed 3 times. It turns out it's my cab that is probably at fault, but nonetheless Jeff and the company have been exceptional. They even sent me a replacement via Fedex to Denmark when I was on tour last year - exceptional.

My only problem is the 'Made In Taiwan' part of the Shuttle. I know they have great cust service, but for that price (they are fairly expensive in the UK) I expect better. Im only saying this after everyone jumped on Ampeg for their production.

Mark Bass is made in Italy...and just seems much easier to use. Im not sure the 3 knobs controlling volume on the Shuttlemax is my thing. I want my volume and my sound with simplicity.

Can anyone from MarkBass on here help and tell me whether I should go for a LM3 or a LMTube 800?! Peter please help :)

My only problem is the 'Made In Taiwan' part of the Shuttle.

Not sure that's a valid criticism. The second biggest computer manufacturer in the world is located in Taiwan, and has been producing excellent quality products for 30 years - Acer.

I don't think the country of manufacture can be used as the sole criteria in an equipment purchase. Otherwise, anyone who has ever owned a Fiat or an Alfa Romeo would never even consider buying Markbass, thinking that all Italian quality control stinks. That's certainly not the case at all with Markbass.

No I agree...Im just comparing it to how Ampeg got slayed for what they did.

Theer is something that feels good about it being made close by to the headquarters though....although Im probable being daft!
