Wonderful post Marty. Really great of you to take the time to talk to us.

Guess we'll next be hearing about DuBaldo Music's IPO then?

Not much to add but I did want to also say thanks again, Marty.

Sounds like you've had quite a day and, to top it all off, you read the EBMM Forum and give us the scoop.

Thanks!

That's Marty the Man telling it like it is. Thanks for taking the time to share with us. So in Tucson I keep seeing the same people working there. I hope my/our store is one of the top performers. I really think they are a great bunch of people. Kudos for them please. Best of luck to you in your new ventures.

Not sure what a "dullard" is ...

dullard - A person regarded as mentally dull; a dolt; a person who is not very bright; a person who evokes boredom.

Just passing on information. :D

Marty, thanks for the post. It's always nice getting information directly.

For you knuckleheads lookin to buy shares, all of the DuBaldo family businesses are family owned and operated. When it comes to shares, we will be happy to share an evening with you on August 1st... More info to follow shortly...

Well, that's easy...just buy the family!

Jake: "How much for the little girl? The women...how much for the women?"
Restaurant guest: "What?"
Jake: "Your women...I want to buy your women, the little girl, your daughters. Sell them to me! Sell me your children!"
Restaurant guest: "Maitre'd! Maitre'd!"
Jake: "You, how much for your wife? Hahahahaaa!"

aka bassist.

THink about it.......

averaged 20 new stores a year..that is one every 18.25 days over ten years..I keep doing the math..did I screw up? THey grew from 140 million to 2 billion.......Thats 186 million per year...

Still managed to piss off the masses! Just kidding!

When you look at these accomplishments it is mind boggling. Keep in mind that the old school perspective is the weath and juice was held by the brand owners and the reality is that the most powerful entity is the retailer......

Fascinating thread. Well done, Marty, I know a number of other companies are taking the same path at the moment and I wish you well with your plans - and thanks for the open communication. I lived for 2 1/2 years in central New Jersey (until 2006) and spent many happy hours in the nearest GC. My eldest( 8 year old) son is keen on drums and the staff always encouraged him to have a play around, sometimes on posh kit that even I was nervous about, so no complaints from me about the store. Good luck!

"Not sure what a "dullard" is .......but yes we do have plans to expand in the EU...we think a lot of the UK and greater EU market and look forward to opening there in the not too distant future... "

Marty - thanks for the reply - its much appreciated that your are taking the time out of what must be an incredibly busy schedule at the moment to keep us in the loop.
Good luck with all that's going on at the moment - and can't wait to see some GCs heading over the Atlantic!

(But will it be Guitar Centre in the UK rather than Guitar Center !!) :)
