Hey all... I wanted to share these tunes from a recent gig that was recorded with "Brushfire", a group I'm in, that turned out pretty well. This is a group that I started out with on a part time basis and it has become one of several full-time gigs. The two guys who front the band are brothers who play guitar and banjo. Both write really cool tunes, and these are two of the instrumentals they wrote that we play. We also do some other varied rock/pop covers, and bluegrass standards as well. In short, it's a gig that keeps me on my toes. Anyway, I played my fretted SUB on these tunes, with a bit of compression to smooth things out. Hope you enjoy them. There are a few flubs here and there, but that's the nature of live recording I guess!

As a side note, I come from a very heavy jazz and pop/rock background. Playing folk/bluegrass is a new experience for me in many ways. I'm having a lot of fun playing these tunes for sure.

That's VERY cool stuff, sir!

I think some steel drums would fit well in that first song. :)

hah!

quick aside,
have you ever used this joke on the Banjo playing brother?

- What's the definition of a gentleman?
- A man who knows how to play the banjo but doesn't!

:p

Haha.... I've unleashed many banjo jokes on him before, but never that one. I'll have to remember it for the next rehearsal.

Thanks for the comments, gents. I appreciate the good vibes regarding the tunes.
