Hey all-
Some of you who cross-pollenate from the 'Pit know of my semi-recent acquisition of a slightly beat-up 1988 StingRay 4. Last night, the 'Ray made its first gig with me, a blues date down in Hermosa Beach, CA doing mostly I-IV-V shuffles and the like.
I strung this bass with TI Flats, and my main concern last night was that notes played on the G string were not projecting well. I adjusted the pickup height a bit, and that helped some but it was still uninspiring at best. Other than that, it played well, and sounded full and thumpy on the other 3 strings. The dots on the side of the neck are a bit faint so I had a couple of half-step miscues, but overall it worked fine.
Here's two pix of the axe for your viewing pleasure.....
