Last week we got a late booking to play on thursday night at the main bar at the International Festival of the Sea in Portsmouth Dockyard, home of the Royal Navy, in the UK The festival was arranged to coincide with the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, when the Brit Navy thrashed the French. The docks were full of craft of all kinds and from many different counties, all open to the public. USN not obviously represented
We were due to play from 8 til 10 but we eventually finished at midnight. There must have been several hundred there and the place was heaving. Those navy types are a great bunch and they do like to sing. Highlight was about 20 crew of an Indonesian warship formation dancing for us. After we'd finished we were asked if we could come back again on Sunday and effectively close the event as the bar would be the only place open. Aagain it was packed and they were all up for a good time. This time we finished at 1:00am. Who says being a musician is an easy life. Here are a few pix from Sunday.
SR5 to the fore as always. Great bass. Luverly tone.
